Menstrual cramp, Prostaglandin, medicine, exercise
Menstrual cramp, most of the women experience it during their period and
obviously those who do not experience can tell how painful it is. It is a
“labor-like” pain accompanied with nausea, pain in the lower back & thigh, vomiting,
diarrhea, headache, dizziness, chillness etc. Trust me, this pain is even
becomes way too intolerable that you want cut your abdomen up and bring things
out that are bothering you.
But
why is it painful? What does happen there? Well, we know our body works
according to the order of various chemical compounds, one of them are hormones.
Prostaglandin is a hormone that produce in female body to regulate some kind of
female things like period. Female produces eggs which wait for sperms at
uterus. When it does not get fertilized uterus need to expel this egg. What
prostaglandin do is contract the uterus and it starts to expel its lining. For
some women this event is painful. Besides this, prostaglandin triggers
inflammation. Releasing too much prostaglandin during menstruation can lead to
inflammation, it can block blood flow.
There
are some other reasons behind this painful event. If a women has endometriosis
that is an extra lining of tissue similar to the tissue of uterus grows outside
the uterine cavity, ovaries, bowel and pelvis. Polycystic ovaries and cyst in
uterus are also the cause of painful menstruation.
So, what should we do to get rid of this suffering? We should visit doctors, check up regularly, lead a healthy life. Sounds like I am talking the talk, right? Let’s get to the point, I know you are fed up with tolerating this much pain but you really need a checkup. Eat as much healthy food as you can, try to reduce taking caffeine. Dark chocolate, jaggery, ginger, banana help to reduce the pain. Doctors also suggest medicines like antispasmodics, anti-inflammatory, analgesic and some herbal therapies as well. Nowadays, a device named ‘Livia’ is getting popular in reducing pain. The most effective remedy is increasing physical activities, exercising two times a day. Believe me, it works!!!!!
